Qi Gong
For The
Martial Artist
In addition
to the styles of Qi Gong which are primarily for developing and increasing the
health of the practitioner we also teach styles of Qi Gong that are primarily
for the martial arts. Many of the health based forms of Qi Gong which develop
the flow of Qi are also effective as early stages of martial arts development
and can be used to prime people who have not undertaken any training in order
that they can take up the martial arts without injury. A prime example of this
is the 8 Pieces of silk (also called 8 Brocades, Baat Duan Jin).
However we will also cover Qi Gong routines such as Sup Bart Um Gen Sau or 18 Internal Dark Power Hands, Dip Gwut Gung or Rib Bone Power and other forms of martial arts based Qi Gong Breathing to develop the Iron Shirt and Blood Sand Palm of Chow Family Praying Mantis.
Development of the breathing and Qi in the martial arts develops the Gen or Shock power famous within the short range techniques of Chow Gar and also the inch punch force.
